A debate that should have focused on more important issues such as stem cell research but instead focused more on Talent's namecalling of McCaskill.
: (R) Sen. Jim Talent vs. (D) Claire McCaskill
Political posturing in a debate--that's the only way to describe this heated debate in a Senatorial seat that is probably a race that could definitely go to the Democrats in a state that is widely considered a Republican stronghold. In the debate, the Republican Jim Talent is trying to claim that the Democrat Claire McCaskill "hates small business." There's no logical claim for either party to ever "hate small business," in fact, Talent is only aligned with small business (a big business guy himself) when the policy aiding big business is nicely aligned with that aiding small business. Saying either party hates small businesses is like saying that either party doesn't like puppies--it's just erroneous and there is no way to prove this fact. It's an unprovable, unjustifiable argument put forth in a debate where both sides are trying to stir emotion and cause a flood of feeling and thus increased voter turnout in their favor in a traditionally low turnout election (the midterm).
