Update [2007-12-9 20:35:16 by Ross Smith]: The candidates spoke in English which was translated into Spanish and that was then translated into closed caption English for the monolingaul English speaker like me. The result was humorous at time. Eventually, I just gave in and used humorous summary to communicate the gist of the gist as best I could understand it.

Read the comments below to see this "progression" as the debate went on.

Update [2007-12-9 21:19:18 by Ross Smith]: In the end there was almost no clash at all, with only Ron Paul disagreeing with anyone. Either it was the format and we'll have to wait until Wednesday's debate in Des Moines, or all of these guys thought attacking one another was backfiring.

say there is no risk losing conservative voters to the fact of being at this forum.

Of course not since all but Tancredo are there and Tancredo does not poll out of his own shadow.

Ron Paul booed for saying we should talk to everyone even if they are hard to deal with.

He says we create resentment by meddling in their internal affairs. Boos.

Huckabee gets cheers for saying be energy independent.

Guiuliani gets cheers for bashing Ron Paul and Chavez together. Says Castro, socialism, communism, too. Lots of devil terms, lots of applause.

Hunter, 2/3 of Hispanics say get out.

Answer: marine, calvary, 10th division, blood, standing up, stand down, victory.

Rudy: victory is a stable ally in the war on Islamic Fundy terror.

McCain: Rumsfeld failed, I was right to say so, McCain surge is a winner.

Huck: we are winning, deaths down, spirits up,

Romney: it is about not letting Iraq be a haven for jihadists like Afghanistan was.

Fred, for how long?
A: it is a global war with multiple fronts, *(no answer on how long)

Paul: I get the most money from active military because they agree with me and are under a defacto, unconstitutional draft. Gets cheers

McCain likes the question because it is on costs and says tax credits of 5000 per family and that encourages wellness.

Rudy -- people need incentives. Since they do not buy their insurance, they do not take care of themselves as they should!!!!!! SOCIALISM BAD.

Huck -- acknowledges 47 million uninsured, blathers about right side up, ambulance at bottom of hill versus fence at top? Ship Michael Moore to Cuba!!!!!

Romney: claims he got the job done in Mass. Claims no gov. mandate, too (as if the Spanish speakers will keep his fibs a Spanish secret).

Fred -- nonsense. claims market efficiency and total nonsense about not being able to get cancer treatment if there is government run health care. The lines and waiting lists are for elective stuff, Fred.

Fred: not a federal responsibility or oval office job. Use bully pulpit to tell families to stay together.

McCain: choice and competition (the cc said "elections and competition" -- interesting word election choice). Distorted statistics time on choice. Jeb Bush praise.

Mitt: what I did in Massachusetts -- test teachers and students mostly.

Huckabee asked about Hispanic drop out rate. Claims the kids are bored. "Weapns of Mass Instruction."

Rudy: Catholic schools are great. Vouchers.

Hunter: inspire by having weapons designers aerospace engineers teach

Huck: Reagan, pro-life

Hunter: Remember El Salvador and Reagan (but not Iran-Contra, presumably).

Fred: Hispanics are hard working heterosexuals who don't demand high wages.

McCain: we will be enriched by their music, culture, language, and love of America (an actual good answer).

Paul: Hispanics can help us restore our constitution,

Rudy: Cuba, New York.

Romney: Hispanics can help us compete with the Asians and can breed.
